Full lyrics, transliteration, English meaning, and performance guide for the most-sung Hindu aartis
The Aarti (ārati) is the Hindu ritual of offering light to a deity. A ghee lamp is moved in clockwise circles in front of the deity's image while devotees sing the dedicated hymn. Aarti is performed at the conclusion of every puja, daily morning and evening in temples, and during all major festivals. This library contains the 10 most-sung aartis in Hindu households — Om Jai Jagdish Hare (universal), and deity-specific aartis for Ganesh, Shiva, Durga, Lakshmi, Hanuman, Krishna, Rama, Saraswati, and Satyanarayana.

How to Perform Aarti
- Prepare a ghee lamp (preferably a 5-wicker silver/brass aarti dia).
- Light all wicks before beginning.
- Hold the lamp with right hand; stand facing the deity.
- Move the lamp clockwise in front of the deity: 5 circles around face, 5 around heart, 5 around feet, 5 around the entire body.
- Sing the dedicated aarti — family members and assembled devotees sing the chorus.
- After the song, show the lamp to all present. They cup their palms over the flame and touch palms to eyes (taking the deity's blessing through the light).
- Sprinkle a few drops of water around the lamp to conclude.
- Distribute prasad (offerings) to all present.
