FAQ

What is Purnima?

Purnima is the Full Moon day in the Hindu lunar calendar, occurring on the 15th Tithi of Shukla Paksha (waxing phase). It is considered one of the most auspicious days for worship, charity, fasting, and spiritual practices. Each Purnima is named after the Hindu month in which it falls.

Which Purnima is most auspicious?

While all Purnimas are sacred, Kartika Purnima (November) is widely considered the most auspicious — known as Dev Deepavali when gods celebrate Diwali. Other highly significant Purnimas include Guru Purnima (July, honoring teachers), Magha Purnima (February, for holy bathing), Vaishakha/Buddha Purnima (May), and Sharad Purnima (October, brightest full moon of the year).
