Kitchen Vastu — వంటశాల వాస్తు
Vastu Shastra Telugu Guide · Classical Manasara & Mayamatam principles
Vantashala (kitchen) is governed by Agni — the fire deity — and must align with the Southeast direction (Agneya kona) for maximum positive energy. The cook should face East while cooking. This guide covers all kitchen Vastu principles + corrective remedies.
Why Southeast (Agneya) is the Ideal Kitchen Direction
The Southeast corner is governed by Agni Deva — the fire deity. Fire (heat, transformation, cooking) naturally aligns with this direction. Placing the kitchen in Southeast brings: digestive health for family, prosperity in food/grains, harmony among family members eating together.
Cooking Direction & Stove Placement
- Cook facing East (most auspicious) or North (acceptable). Never face South while cooking — invites health issues.
- Gas stove in Southeast corner of the kitchen, on a platform 2-3 inches above floor level.
- Distance between stove and sink: at least 3 feet. Fire (stove) and water (sink) are opposing elements; close proximity creates Vastu conflict.
- Sink in Northeast corner of the kitchen (water flows toward Northeast = wealth-attracting).
- Refrigerator in Southwest or Northwest of the kitchen. Never in Northeast.
- Water filter / drinking water in Northeast.
Remedies if Kitchen is NOT in Southeast
- Kitchen in Northeast: Place a copper Kubera yantra in the northeast corner. Salt-jar (red cloth wrapped) in southeast.
- Kitchen in Northwest: Avoid storing grains here; keep utensils minimal; place clay deepam in southeast every evening.
- Kitchen in Center (Brahmasthan): Most problematic. Place a heavy copper Vastu Purusha yantra in center; do annual Vastu Shanti puja.
