What is Nitya Panchangam?

Nitya Panchangam (నిత్య పంచాంగం) is a free, comprehensive, and accurate Telugu Vedic calendar available to anyone, anywhere in the world. “Nitya” means daily, and “Panchangam” refers to the five-limbed Vedic almanac (Tithi, Vara, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana). Our mission is to make traditional Vedic calendar wisdom accessible through modern technology.

Methodology — గణన పద్ధతి

Lahiri Ayanamsa: All calculations use the official Indian government standard — the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) Ayanamsa. This is the same system used by the Indian Astronomical Ephemeris and is the most widely accepted standard for Hindu calendar calculations.

Astronomical Engine: Planetary positions are computed using high-precision astronomical algorithms. Sun and Moon positions are calculated to arc-minute accuracy, ensuring Tithi, Nakshatra, and Yoga boundaries are correct.

Location Awareness: Sunrise, sunset, and all time-dependent calculations (Rahu Kalam, Abhijit Muhurtam, etc.) are computed for the specific geographic coordinates and timezone of the selected city, accounting for DST where applicable.

Traditional Rules: Festival dates, muhurtam selections, and other observances follow classical Vedic rules from texts like Surya Siddhanta, Muhurta Chintamani, and Dharmasindhu, adapted for the Telugu tradition.
