The eighteen Maha Shakti Peethas covered here run from Jeshoreswari in Bangladesh to Kanyakumari, with a dense cluster across the Deccan. Devotees usually work through them region by region, and time each leg to Navratri or to a Purnima.

When to go
Purnima is the settled day for a Devi darshan and falls once a month, which makes it the easiest peg for a trip. Sharad Navratri is the peak — nine days when every Peetha is at its most alive and also at its most crowded. Fridays carry the same association through the year and are the quietest of the auspicious options.
Planning notes
- Vaishno Devi and Naina Devi both involve a climb, and both are considerably harder in the monsoon. Kamakhya closes to the public during Ambubachi and reopens after; plan around that rather than into it.
- Jeshoreswari is in Bangladesh, so that leg needs a visa and its own timetable — it is not part of an Indian itinerary.
- Several Peethas sit inside larger temple complexes. Bhramaramba shares Srisailam with the Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga, and Vishalakshi is a short walk from Kashi Vishwanath, so one stop can cover two lists.
