Papankusha Ekadashi 2027 (also called Papankusa Ekadasi) falls on Monday, 11 October 2027. From the Brahma Vaivarta Purana — Krishna narrated to Yudhishthira the story of a cruel hunter named Krodhana who by mere chance heard the Papankusha Vrata katha on his deathbed and attained Vaikuntha. Named "Papankusha" (papa = sin, ankusha = elephant-goad) because observing this Ekadashi is said to hook and pull out all accumulated sins from the observer's karma-chain, just as an ankusha controls a wild elephant. Considered one of the most sin-destroying Ekadashis. Falls right before Sharad Purnima (Kojagari) and Dussehra — an intensely tapasya-charged week.
