హర్తాళికా తీజ్ 2027

Hartalika Teej 2027 (also called Gauri Habba / Hartalika Vrat / Bhadrapada Teej) falls on Friday, 3 September 2027. Hartalika takes its name from harat, to abduct, and alika, the friend: Parvati companions carried her into the forest so that she would not be married to Vishnu against her wish, and there she made a Shiva Linga of sand and won him by penance. The vrat is kept without food or water for a full day and night, chiefly by married women in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and the Hindi belt, and by Kannada households as Gauri Habba on the day before Ganesh Chaturthi. Primary observance: A sand or clay Shiva Linga and a Gauri image made by hand and worshipped through the day, nirjala fast from sunrise through the night, the Hartalika katha read at each of the three prahara of the night, a night vigil with bhajans, aarti at dawn and the fast broken only after the morning puja on the following day. Recommended muhurat: Tritiya Tithi 2 Sep 16:51 IST – 3 Sep 14:20 IST · Pratahkala puja 06:02 – 08:31 IST on 3 Sep (Hyderabad).
