The Devi is worshipped as Mahagauri, the nine Shakti forms are invoked into nine small pots, and unmarried girls are honoured as Kumari, the living form of the goddess. Primary observance: Mahagauri puja, Kumari Puja with nine girls worshipped and fed, Navapatrika and the nine pots of the Shakti forms, Durga Saptashati recitation, Sandhi Puja with one hundred and eight lamps at the junction of Ashtami and Navami, and the Ashtami fast broken after the puja with kanya bhojan.
