Significance

Vinayaka Chaturthi (Ganesh Chaturthi) is one of the most celebrated Telugu festivals. Lord Ganesha — the elephant-headed son of Shiva and Parvati — is worshipped as the remover of obstacles and the god of beginnings. Clay idols are installed at homes and public pandals for 1, 3, 5, 7 or 11 days, concluding with Ganesh Visarjan (idol immersion).

వినాయక చవితి తెలుగు వారి అత్యంత ముఖ్యమైన పండుగలలో ఒకటి. శివ పార్వతుల పుత్రుడైన వినాయకుడు విఘ్ననాశకుడు. మట్టి విగ్రహాలను 1, 3, 5, 7, లేదా 11 రోజులు పూజించి నిమజ్జనం చేస్తారు.

How to Celebrate — Rituals

1. 1Install clay Ganesha idol at home or community pandal
2. 2Perform Pranapratishta (invocation of life into idol)
3. 3Offer 21 types of patri leaves (durva grass, bilva etc.)
4. 4Prepare modak (sweet dumpling) — Ganesha's favorite
5. 5Recite Ganesha Atharvashirsha and Ganapati Stotras
6. 6Perform aarti morning and evening for all 10 days
7. 7Conduct Visarjan (immersion) on the final day

1. 1మట్టి వినాయక విగ్రహాన్ని ప్రతిష్ఠించాలి
2. 2ప్రాణప్రతిష్ఠ నిర్వహించాలి
3. 321 రకాల పత్రి సమర్పించాలి
4. 4మోదకాలు (కుడుములు) నివేదన చేయాలి
5. 5గణపతి అథర్వశీర్షం పఠించాలి
6. 610 రోజులు ఆరతి ఇచ్చి నిమజ్జనం చేయాలి
