Significance

Krishna Janmashtami celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, the 8th avatar of Lord Vishnu. Krishna was born at midnight on the 8th day (Ashtami) of the dark fortnight of Bhadrapada month in Mathura. His birth marked the end of Kamsa's tyranny. The Bhagavad Gita, his teachings to Arjuna, is one of the most sacred texts of Hinduism.

కృష్ణ జన్మాష్టమి శ్రీమహావిష్ణువు అష్టమ అవతారమైన శ్రీకృష్ణుని జన్మదినం. భాద్రపద కృష్ణ అష్టమి నాడు అర్ధరాత్రి మధురలో జన్మించారు. భగవద్గీత అందించిన మహాయోగి.

How to Celebrate — Rituals
